The Rochdale Canal (Yorkshire section)

We started at the Shire Cruisers' boatyard at Sowerby Bridge - strictly speaking this is on the Calder & Hebble Navigation but the junction of the Rochdale Canal is just a couple of hundred yards down the cut.

About four miles after leaving Sowerby Bridge Hebden Bridge is reached and the canal starts to climb in earnest towards the Pennines.

Passing through Heben Bridge.

The town is soon left behind and the canal climbs into the hills. Locks come every few hundred yards.

Lock 16 - Lob Mill Lock.
